Which TacticalPontoon Is Your Glock?
Buckle Up…this is a long one.
I build more than one Glock trigger system for a reason. They aren’t different price levels of the same thing. They are different answers. When somebody asks me, “Which TacticalPontoon is the best?” my first thought usually isn’t about trigger weight, price or which system sits at the top of the website. My first thought is:
What are you building?
A Glock that gets carried every day presents a different problem than a pistol being built around competition performance.
A guy who just wants his factory trigger cleaned up and made substantially better doesn’t necessarily need the same answer as somebody trying to find the limits of what the Glock trigger system can do.
That’s how I look at these from the work table.
The pistol tells me what problem we’re trying to solve.
Then we decide how far the trigger needs to go.
The Short Version
Peacemaker Drop-In
You want your Glock trigger substantially better without turning the gun into a competition project.
Heisenberg Competition
You care about the entire trigger cycle—not just what the trigger gauge says.
Viper Competition
You are intentionally chasing the performance ceiling of the Glock platform.
Peacemaker Extreme Carry
The pistol gets carried, and the trigger needs to respect that mission while still being far better than stock. Think Glock 43X, CR920X and the other slimline pistols the Extreme Carry lineup was built around.
That’s the easy answer.
The more important answer is why.

There is a tendency in this industry to assume that once we start modifying a Glock trigger, everything needs to become lighter…….
I don’t agree with that.
Sometimes the problem is much simpler.
The owner likes his Glock. He trusts the platform. He probably shoots it well.
He just doesn’t like the trigger very much.
There is nothing unusual about that.
Factory Glock triggers are designed around manufacturing tolerances, reliability across a huge number of pistols and a very broad range of users. They aren’t built around making one particular pistol feel exceptional.
That’s where the Peacemaker makes sense.
The objective isn’t to turn every Glock into a race gun.
The objective is to remove the vague, mechanical feel that makes so many factory triggers feel like exactly what they are: mass-production parts doing their job.
Clean up the movement.
Give the shooter a better interface with the pistol.
Make the trigger feel deliberate.
And stop there if that’s where the gun needs to stop.
I think people sometimes underestimate the value of that.
Not every build needs to chase the edge.
Sometimes better is the entire goal.
The Peacemaker answer:
You want a serious Glock trigger upgrade, but you aren’t trying to turn the pistol into something it was never intended to be. Sometimes better is the entire goal. (I could write pages about why the Peacemaker lineup is better than the other drop-ins out there, but I don’t need to. My customers already do that in the reviews on the product page.)

A Trigger Gauge Doesn’t Tell the Whole Story
There is usually a point where shooters start paying attention to different things. At first, everybody talks about pounds.
“How light is it?”
That’s easy to understand because a trigger gauge gives you a number. But a trigger gauge only tells you how much force it took to make the gun fire. It doesn’t tell you whether the trigger is actually good. It doesn’t tell you what happened getting to the wall. It doesn’t tell you how defined the break felt. It doesn’t tell you how much movement happened afterward.
And it definitely doesn’t tell you what the trigger feels like coming back onto reset or how short it is.
Once a shooter starts noticing those things, the conversation changes….and the rest of the guys rarely want to talk about that.
That’s where the Heisenberg Competition begins to make sense.
The Heisenberg is built around approximately a 3.5-pound break, but that number isn’t really the point.
The system is about controlling the trigger cycle.
Pre-travel.
The wall.
The break.
Overtravel.
Reset.
And most importantly, getting the parts involved to behave as a system instead of treating each component as an independent upgrade. That’s one of the things I think gets missed constantly in Glock trigger work. You can buy a lighter connector. You can buy springs. You can buy a trigger shoe. You can put them all in the same pistol.
That doesn’t automatically mean you have a well-designed trigger system.
Parts interact.
Geometry changes things.
Engagement changes things.
Even differences between Glock generations matter.
The Gen 6 is a good example.
Much of the trigger architecture is shared with the Gen 5, but changes in cruciform engagement alter the feel of the system. That has to be considered when I tune a Heisenberg for that platform.
I don’t look at that and say, “Close enough. Same parts.”
I tune for the generation and platform.
That’s really what separates the Heisenberg from simply installing performance parts.
The Heisenberg answer:
Trigger behavior matters to you as much as trigger weight.
You aren’t necessarily trying to find the absolute limit, but you haven’t found that the market understands what you really want or need. You want something that will make you proud when the target is checked and the competition is looking on.
Viper Competition
Lighter Is Easy
This is where things get interesting.
There is always somebody who gets behind a Heisenberg and eventually asks:
“Can you take it farther?”
Yes.
That’s why the Viper exists.
But there is something I want people to understand about extreme trigger performance.
Making a Glock trigger lighter isn’t particularly impressive.
You can start reducing spring weights and watch a trigger gauge number fall pretty quickly.
The difficult part is keeping the entire system behaving correctly as you begin removing those margins.
That’s a very different job.
The Viper Competition System runs around a 2.5-pound break and incorporates a lightweight striker system, matched spring combination, race-tuned connector, adjustable overtravel and the rest of the work required to make those pieces function together.
But again—the parts list isn’t really the story.
As you start pushing farther, things that barely mattered in a heavier system begin to matter a lot.
Engagement matters more.
Connector geometry matters more.
Striker tension matters more.
Trigger-bar movement matters more.
The setup of the individual pistol matters more.
The lighter you go, the less room there is to be lazy about any of it.
That’s why I don’t automatically recommend the Viper just because somebody wants “the best TacticalPontoon.”
Best for what?
If you’re building a pistol around maximum competition performance and you understand that pushing a mechanical system closer to its limits requires more attention to that system, then we’re having the right conversation.
If you’re carrying the gun every day?
I’m probably going to tell you something different.
If you just bought your first Glock?
Probably something different again.
The Viper doesn’t bother me because it’s extreme.
It would bother me if I pretended extreme was the correct answer for everybody.
The Viper answer:
You aren’t asking whether this level of performance is necessary.
You’re asking how far the Glock trigger system can reasonably be pushed.
That’s a completely different customer.
And a completely different trigger.
Peacemaker Extreme Carry
The Mission Changes the Tune
Slimline Glocks forced me to look at this from another direction, and the different geometry also made me rethink the whole way I tune.
The Glock 43, 43X and 48 are small pistols for a reason.
People carry them.
That changes the problem.
I don’t believe a carry gun deserves a mediocre trigger simply because it is a carry gun.
But I also don’t believe the intelligent answer is taking the most aggressive competition setup I can build and stuffing it into a pistol that spends its life inside somebody’s waistband.
Those are two extremes.
Neither is particularly thoughtful.
The Peacemaker Extreme Carry lives between them.
The system is built around approximately a 4-pound break with dramatically reduced pre-travel compared with the factory curved trigger, a much faster and more positive reset, and a flat-faced Peacemaker shoe that changes the shooter’s leverage and interface with the trigger.
But the most important thing about the Extreme Carry isn’t a specification.
It’s the question I used to build it.
Not:
How light can I make this?
Instead:
How good can I make this while remembering what the gun is for?
That’s the difference.
A carry gun doesn’t need a lesser trigger.
It needs a different answer.
That’s something I believe pretty strongly.
The system also extends beyond the Glock 43/43X/48 into compatible slimline platforms such as the Shadow Systems CR920 family, Micro Dagger and other Glock-pattern builds.
The platform can change.
The philosophy doesn’t.
The Extreme Carry answer:
The gun gets carried.
Performance still matters.
But the mission of the pistol gets the final vote.
Don’t Buy the Most Expensive TacticalPontoon
I probably shouldn’t have to say that.
But I’m going to, because if you know me, you know I tell it the way it is, even if that means you keep your current trigger.
Don’t automatically buy the most expensive trigger on the page.
That’s not how I designed these systems.
If somebody contacts me with a 19X they carry every day, I’m not sitting here trying to figure out how to move them into a Viper because it costs more.
That’s the wrong trigger conversation.
If somebody has a completely stock Glock and simply hates the factory trigger, they might be perfectly happy with a Peacemaker.
And if somebody has spent enough time behind good triggers that they’re starting to notice every little piece of movement before and after the break, I’m probably going to start talking about the Heisenberg.
The Viper comes into the conversation when the objective itself changes.
That’s the point.
I don’t see:
Peacemaker → Heisenberg → Viper
as:
Good → Better → Best.
I see them as different tools.
The Extreme Carry makes that even more obvious because its entire reason for existing is based on a different mission.
That’s how I want people choosing these systems.
Not by price.
Not because somebody on the internet said a 2.5-pound trigger sounds cooler than a 3.5-pound trigger.
And not because the most expensive part must automatically be the best part.
Look at the pistol.
Look at what you’re actually going to do with it.
Be honest about what you want from it.
Then choose the trigger that solves that problem.

Peacemaker Drop-In
Make the Glock better.
Heisenberg Competition
Control the entire trigger cycle.
Viper Competition
Push the platform farther.
Peacemaker Extreme Carry
Improve performance without forgetting the mission.
I don’t build four different TacticalPontoon systems because I needed four different products to sell.
I build them because I’ve spent enough time inside these pistols to know there isn’t one correct answer for all of them.
The gun comes first.
The way you’re going to use it comes next.
Then I build the trigger around that.
So when somebody asks me:
“Which TacticalPontoon is the best?”
We’re back where we started.
